About Dr. Chu
Dr. Stephanie Chu was born in New York and raised in New Jersey. She attended New York University, where she received Bachelor’s degrees in music and pre-health sciences. She then received her dental degree from the University of Pennsylvania, one of only three Ivy League dental schools in the country, graduating with honors in clinical dentistry. Afterwards, she completed a General Practice Residency at the Manhattan Veterans Affairs Hospital, concentrating on restorative and emergency dentistry, and management of medically complex patients.
This was followed by a three-year long residency in Periodontics & Implantology. She simultaneously attended New York University and the Manhattan Veterans Affairs Hospital, a joint program that accepts only one resident every other year. During this time, she completed rigorous training in surgical implantology and periodontal regenerative and plastic procedures, while also serving as chief resident. While in residency, she was awarded the Dennis P. Tarnow Award for clinical excellence.
Dr. Chu has a passion for the field, and has grown up around dentistry her entire life with multiple family members in the profession and in academia.
She is board-certified in Periodontics and Implant Surgery and is heavily active in clinical research and has multiple publications, in addition to being directly involved in post-graduate-level academia. She is an active member in the American Academy of Periodontology and the American Board of Periodontology. In her spare time, Stephanie enjoys playing electric guitar in her band and spending time with her family.
